Skanstes City to Invest €1.7 Million in Parking Lot Expansion

The Skanstes City office center is expanding its territory by developing a parking lot with 450 spaces. The total investment for its construction, landscaping, and infrastructure improvements, including electric vehicle charging stations, will amount to approximately €1.7 million.
SG Capital Partner and Chairman of the Board, Harijs Švarcs, explains:
“We are implementing this project with the goal of making Skanstes City the largest office center parking lot in Riga. Currently, Skanstes City already offers over 1,000 parking spaces. Upon completing the new parking lot on Laktas Street, our tenants will have access to 1,500 parking spaces. Parking in central Riga has become a challenge, and with this project, we are not only expanding parking availability and improving access to the Skanstes City office center from Laktas Street, but also creating a sustainable environment by integrating electric vehicle charging stations, bicycle parking, and a well-maintained green space.”
The parking lot will be developed gradually until 2024. Currently, a landscaped and improved parking area with 50 spaces is already in use. By mid-2023, the area is planned to expand to 250 parking spaces, and within the next two years, it will reach a total of 450 spaces. By next year, electric vehicle charging stations are also expected to be installed in the parking lot.
To further enhance bicycle infrastructure and convenience for cyclists, the office center has recently installed changing rooms for tenants, allowing companies to offer showers and locker facilities—a highly sought-after amenity, especially for those who cycle to work.
In the previous year, Skanstes City reported a turnover of €5.76 million, reflecting a 23.6% increase compared to 2019. However, the company’s profit decreased by 2.6 times to €1.818 million.
