Skanstes City Opens New Activity Square – Žirafes Parks

The new Žirafes Parks, covering more than 2,000 m², is located at Skanstes iela 50, in the heart of the Skanstes City office quarter. The activity square was developed in collaboration with the architecture firm “ĒTER” and construction company “Kvinta BCL”, designing a space where work culture blends with nature and outdoor events can be hosted outside traditional office spaces.
Žirafes Parks is part of Skanstes City’s public space initiative, aimed at creating new work and recreation opportunities while reducing vehicle presence in the office quarter’s courtyard. Instead, the space has been transformed into a green, functional landmark with a paved square and three oval pavilions—an amphitheater, workstations, and a stage. The square is also designed to accommodate food trucks, enabling pop-up markets and other community events. The activity space offers a versatile and engaging area for individual or group work, active recreation, or simply a meeting spot for coffee—rain or shine.
A Hub for Community Events
Skanstes City Board Member, Andris Kozlovskis, explained:
“With the launch of Žirafes Parks, we will actively organize themed events such as street food markets, sports activities, concerts, and fairs, making the daily office life more vibrant and diverse for our tenants. Additionally, we continue working on other outdoor redevelopment projects, further transforming Skanstes City into a modern, comfortable, and sustainable business environment.”
The giraffe serves as the official symbol of the new activity square, embodying vision, an elevated perspective, and an appreciation for the extraordinary in nature.
“That’s why we decided to give the activity square its own unique identity—both through its distinctive architectural elements and by naming it Žirafes Parks,” added Kozlovskis.
A 5.5-meter-tall architectural giraffe sculpture will delight visitors and tenants alike, serving as a landmark for the entire Skanstes City office quarter.
Grand Opening Celebration
The Žirafes Parks opening event featured performances by Astro’n’out, DJ Makree, and host Lelde Ceriņa. It also marked the launch of the new “Street Food” event season, which will continue every second Thursday, offering a dynamic mix of lunch and entertainment options for tenants and visitors of the Skanstes City office quarter.
