Skanstes City Installs Latvia’s Largest EV Charging Park

Starting this week, Skanstes City office center tenants and visitors have access to 12 new medium-speed (22 kW AC) EV charging points, all located in one convenient area.
SG Capital Partner and Chairman of the Board, Harijs Švarcs, explains:
*“Sustainability has been part of Skanstes City’s business strategy since the very beginning, as evidenced by our BREEAM certification, which recognizes buildings that meet the highest energy efficiency and sustainability standards. So far, we have implemented numerous environmentally friendly solutions, including a BMS system for temperature and climate control, CO₂ sensors, upgraded ventilation, cooling, and elevator systems, as well as LED lighting and light sensors.
Now, in collaboration with Latvenergo, we have installed Latvia’s largest EV charging park, providing a convenient charging solution for our tenants during work hours, as well as an added benefit for visitors to Skanstes City. Our business park is open 24/7, meaning residents of nearby buildings can also charge their vehicles overnight.”*
The new EV charging stations are located in Skanstes City’s inner courtyard, near the building at Skanstes iela 50. The charging points have been developed in partnership with Latvenergo’s Elektrum brand, and EV users can access charging services via the Elektrum Drive app.
Commitment to Sustainability
Expanding the concept of a sustainable and green office center, Skanstes City is also pursuing other environmental initiatives:
• The office park already operates on 100% green electricity, supplied by Latvenergo.
• This year, a 300 kW solar power station will be installed within Skanstes City.
• Solar panels will be placed on the rooftops of Skanstes iela 50B and 50C, covering a total area of over 2,800 m², generating additional green energy for Skanstes City’s office center and tenants.
• The solar power station is expected to produce up to 230 MWh of electricity annually, equivalent to the annual electricity consumption of 100 households.
Future Development Plans
In 2022, Skanstes City will continue expanding its territory, energy efficiency initiatives, and service offerings. Planned projects include:
• Renovation of two existing buildings at Skanstes iela 54 and 54A
• Upgrading windows, facades, engineering networks, and elevators
• Modernizing the buildings’ exterior design to align with Skanstes City’s new office concept and style
